On Wednesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu engaged in a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explore avenues for enhancing the strategic partnership between their respective nations.
Netanyahu also exchanged perspectives regarding the situation in West Asia.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), “PM Modi reaffirmed India’s support for initiatives aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in the region, which includes the prompt implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.”
The statement further indicated that both leaders expressed their contentment with the ongoing advancements in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and reiterated their dedication to further strengthening these relations for mutual advantage.
Additionally, the two leaders firmly denounced terrorism and reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, as noted in the statement.
It was also mentioned that both leaders agreed to maintain communication.
The last conversation between the two leaders occurred in October, when Netanyahu interrupted a cabinet meeting to take PM Modi’s call. PM Modi had reached out to extend his congratulations to Netanyahu regarding the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.
PM Modi stated, “I called my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu, to congratulate him on the progress made under President Trump’s Gaza peace plan. We welcome the agreement on the release of hostages and increased humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. I reaffirmed that terrorism in any form or manifestation is unacceptable anywhere in the world,” as he posted on X.
Furthermore, PM Modi had also communicated with US President Donald Trump, commending his efforts to bring an end to hostilities in West Asia.
This conversation came in the wake of the US announcement that Israel and Hamas, who had been in conflict for two years, had reached an agreement on the initial phase of the Gaza Peace Plan.
This first phase encompasses a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of both Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
