External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Russia during the third week of November, as reported by sources to CNN-News 18.
During his visit, Jaishankar will participate in a meeting of foreign ministers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and engage with Russian officials to prepare for the upcoming visit of Russian leader Vladimir Putin to India next month.
Putin is anticipated to arrive in India next month for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.
In Moscow, Jaishankar is expected to discuss with Russian officials the finalization of deliverables and the framework for Putin’s visit, which is projected to occur from December 4 to 6.
Earlier, the Russian foreign ministry announced that an SCO meeting is scheduled for November 17-18, during which Russia will assume the presidency of the bloc from China.
In addition, Jaishankar will participate in the G-7 foreign ministers’ meeting in Canada on Wednesday, where he is also expected to conduct bilateral meetings on the sidelines.
Jaishankar will take part in the outreach session of the meeting for G7 partners in Ontario, following an invitation from his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday.
According to the MEA, “The external affairs minister’s participation in the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting reflects India’s ongoing commitment to collaborating with international partners to tackle global challenges and enhance the representation of the Global South in international forums.”
