A fugitive sought in a murder case from 2017, who escaped from a prison in Nepal during the recent unrest, has been apprehended by the Delhi Police.
The suspect, known as Arjun alias Bhola, had been evading law enforcement for eight years and had a bounty of ₹1 lakh placed on his head, according to police reports.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Harsh Indora informed ANI, “Arjun alias Bhola, a fugitive from Nepal, is wanted in relation to a murder case that occurred in November 2017, within the jurisdiction of the New Ashok Nagar Police Station. Bhola had successfully avoided capture for eight years and had been living in Nepal for the last six and a half years.”
Authorities stated that Bhola was previously incarcerated in Nepal for another murder case, for which he was sentenced to 25 years. He managed to escape during a period of political unrest and was apprehended at the Nepal–Bihar border in Raxaul while attempting to enter India.
“He was serving a 25-year sentence in Nepal for a different murder case. Following a recent escape amid civil unrest in Nepal, Bhola crossed into India, where he was arrested based on intelligence reports. He was caught at the Nepal-Bihar border in Raxaul,” the official further explained.
Bhola is alleged to have committed a heinous murder in India, reportedly stabbing and decapitating the mother of his friend’s girlfriend after she declined to approve of their marriage.
As reported by ANI, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has detained 79 individuals so far, including four foreigners, who attempted to enter India after escaping from various prisons in Nepal during the ongoing unrest.
