In the days following the targeting of several nuclear sites in Iran by Israel and the United States, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, Iran’s leading nuclear official stated on Tuesday that the nation had made proactive arrangements to ensure that its nuclear activities would not be interrupted.
As reported by CNN, Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), indicated that Iran had “planned ahead of time” to guarantee “no interruption to our nuclear programme and industry.”
“We have implemented the necessary measures and are currently assessing the damage” inflicted by the strikes,” AFP quoted Eslami as stating in a broadcast on state television.
“Plans for the resumption of operations at the facilities have been prepared in advance, and our strategy is to ensure that production and services remain uninterrupted,” he further remarked.
These comments arise amid growing speculation that Tehran may have preemptively relocated sensitive nuclear equipment and enriched uranium from critical facilities — including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — prior to the attacks.
Earlier in the conflict, AEOI spokesperson Behrouz Kamalvandi confirmed that equipment at both the Fordow and Isfahan sites had been relocated in anticipation of possible Israeli airstrikes.
On Sunday, the United States conducted airstrikes on Iran’s Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz uranium enrichment facilities, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions.
US President Donald Trump praised the operation as a “spectacular military success,” although the full extent of the damage to the targeted sites remains uncertain.
In response, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated that the Islamic Republic still holds enriched uranium stockpiles, cautioning that “the game is not over.”
On Monday, Israel confirmed it had executed a second strike on the heavily fortified Fordow facility, situated beneath a mountain south of Tehran, asserting that the operation aimed to “obstruct access routes” to the site.
