Iran’s military is set to carry out naval exercises on Saturday in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean, as reported by a commander on state television.
“The joint military drill Zolfaghar 1403 will commence tomorrow (Saturday) along the Makran coast, the Sea of Oman, and the northern Indian Ocean,” stated Habibollah Sayyari, the deputy coordinator of the Iranian army, on Friday.
Following the return of United States President Donald Trump to the White House in January, Tehran has intensified its demonstrations of military strength through extensive exercises, revealing new equipment and showcasing underground military facilities.
Additionally, Iran has been indicating to Western nations, particularly the United States, its willingness to re-engage in discussions regarding its nuclear program, which has been a longstanding source of tension.
The exercises scheduled for Saturday aim to enhance defense and deterrence capabilities against potential threats from land, air, and sea, Sayyari noted.
In recent weeks, Iran has conducted military drills throughout the country, including areas near its nuclear sites in the western and central regions.
