Ahmed Hassan Salame Alsauarka, a Hamas squad commander and sniper involved in the Oct. 7 massacre in southern Israel, was killed in a strike in northern Gaza, as confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Thursday.
The precise strike on Alsauarka was carried out following intelligence gathered by the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA).
According to the IDF’s tweet, IAF aircraft conducted a targeted strike to eliminate the Hamas terrorist Ahmed Hassan Salame Alsauarka in the Beit Hanoun area of northern Gaza, with a video of the operation shared online.
Alsauarka, identified as a squad commander in the Nukhba Forces responsible for infiltrating and carrying out attacks on communities in southern Israel during the Oct. 7 Massacre, resulting in the deaths of 1,189 people, was eliminated in the airstrike.
The IDF emphasized that precautions were taken to minimize harm to civilians during the operation, with no reports of civilian injuries resulting from the strike.
Prior to the strike, Alsauarka was involved in directing sniper activity in the Beit Hanoun area and participating in Hamas’ attacks on IDF troops. The IDF highlighted that steps were taken to prevent harm to civilians during the operation, ensuring no civilian casualties occurred.
The Israeli military’s operations in central Gaza are ongoing, with a focus on eliminating immediate threats and dismantling terrorist infrastructure. Most recently, Israeli forces successfully targeted and destroyed a mortar shell launch site used to attack their troops.
