On Wednesday, Vladimir Putin made a historic visit to North Korea after 24 years and presented Kim Jong-Un with a luxurious Aurus limousine, solidifying the strong strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea amidst growing concerns about their military cooperation.
The 71-year-old Russian president gifted the Aurus luxury car to Kim, marking the second time the North Korean leader has received this particular model from Putin. In addition to the car, Putin also presented Kim with a tea set.
During their meeting, Putin took the 40-year-old North Korean leader for a test drive in the Russian-made Aurus car, concluding their day’s discussions.
This gift exchange follows Kim’s visit to Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome space launch site last September, where Putin showed him a model of an Aurus Motors executive car.
Putin had previously gifted an Aurus to Kim in February of this year, making Kim the first leader to receive such a gift. The specific model of the vehicle was not disclosed at the time.
The Kremlin Spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, explained that Kim showed interest in the car when he visited the Vostochny Cosmodrome spaceport, and Putin decided to gift it to him based on that.
The Aurus brand, Russia’s first luxury car brand, was established in 2013 under a contract with the industry and trade ministry with the aim of developing vehicles for senior government officials and the general public.
The deepening of ties between Russia and North Korea was highlighted by the exchange of gifts and the friendly dialogues that took place. This relationship has garnered international attention, particularly because of the military and geopolitical factors surrounding Moscow’s ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the wider implications for global security.
Version 2: The exchange of gifts and the amicable dialogues served as a testament to the strengthening bonds between Russia and North Korea. This significant relationship has attracted global scrutiny, primarily due to the military and geopolitical dynamics surrounding Moscow’s ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the broader implications it holds for global security.
