Former President Donald Trump’s stance on the potential banning of TikTok in the US has undergone a significant change, as reported by The New York Post.
Since joining the platform a few days ago, Trump’s position on the widely used social networking app has shifted. Initially, during his presidency, he supported the idea of a ban, but now he fully supports it. This reversal of opinion has recently taken place.
Trump made his support for TikTok clear on Thursday, marking a notable departure from his previous standpoint.
During a conversation with conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Trump expressed his opposition to outlawing the social media platform.
Kirk stated, “And you’ll never ban TikTok, that’s for sure.” To which the former president responded, “I will never ban TikTok.”
In April, President Joe Biden approved a bill that mandated ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, to sell the platform by mid-January or potentially face a ban in the United States.
This decision faced criticism from Republicans who were concerned about national security. Furthermore, Donald Trump recently joined TikTok, stating that it was a privilege for him to do so.
Trump remarked, “Well, the main message is to vote for Trump. We will make our country greater than ever before. We had something incredible going on, and it’s just terrible what has happened. Joe Biden is the worst president in history.”
“And if you look at it, even as a representative, he goes to France, and something bad happens. I don’t know what it is.”
