Dublin Airport authorities have confirmed that twelve individuals sustained injuries when a Qatar Airways aircraft, en route from Doha to Dublin, encountered turbulence.
The plane safely landed according to the predetermined schedule, prior to 1 pm (1200 GMT).
In response to the incident, emergency services, including Airport Police and the Fire and Rescue department, promptly attended to the aircraft upon arrival. Six passengers and six crew members reported injuries after encountering turbulence over Turkey, as stated in a release by Dublin Airport.
Prior to disembarking from the aircraft, all passengers were evaluated for any potential injuries. Subsequently, eight passengers were transported to the hospital for further medical attention. The airport mentioned that the return flight to Doha will proceed this afternoon, albeit with a delay.
The turbulence incident had no impact on flight operations at Dublin Airport, which continue to operate as normal.
Additionally, it is noteworthy that just five days ago, severe turbulence on a Singapore Airlines flight from London resulted in the unfortunate death of a British man, suspected to have experienced a heart attack. Numerous other passengers also sustained injuries during that incident.
