Anita Mukhey, a 66-year-old British citizen of Indian origin, tragically lost her life when she was fatally stabbed by a 22-year-old individual in Burnt Oak.
Anita Mukhey, who worked part-time as a medical secretary for the National Health Service (NHS), was attacked while attempting to protect her handbag from a mugger at the Burnt Oak Broadway bus stop in the Edgeware region of London.
Law enforcement authorities were alerted to the incident at approximately 11:50 hrs on Thursday, May 9, following reports of a stabbing at Burnt Oak Broadway. Responding swiftly, officers, the London Ambulance Service (LAS), and London’s Air Ambulance (HEMS) arrived at the scene where the 66-year-old victim was receiving treatment for knife injuries.
Despite the valiant efforts of the emergency services, the victim succumbed to her wounds at the scene. Her next of kin have already been notified by the authorities.
The suspect, Jalal Debella, made an appearance on Saturday, 11 May, at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder and the possession of an offensive weapon, as confirmed by the Metropolitan Police.
In a touching tribute to Anita Mukhey, her family released a statement, saying, “Anita Mukhey, aged 66, was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, dedicated to her family, in addition to her part-time role as a Medical Secretary within the NHS.
“At this challenging time, the family kindly requests privacy.”
