On Saturday, July 19, US President Donald Trump utilized his Truth Social platform to respond to increasing demands for the release of grand jury transcripts related to the criminal cases of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. He asserted that even if the courts permit their release, “nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics.”
“It will always be more, more, more. MAGA!” Trump stated.
This statement came after the Department of Justice’s action on Friday, which requested federal judges to unseal the grand jury testimonies following a request made by Trump on Thursday.
Trump had previously announced that he instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to “produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval.”
The call for the release of files related to Epstein has grown stronger, with even some of Trump’s most loyal supporters joining critics in urging for transparency.
Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 after being arrested on federal child sex trafficking charges, continues to be a subject of significant public scrutiny.
Trump’s post on Saturday indicates that he is under pressure but is hesitant to take additional steps.
“I have asked the Justice Department to release all Grand Jury testimony with respect to Jeffrey Epstein, subject only to Court Approval,” he wrote.
“That being said, even if the Court granted its full and unwavering approval, nothing will satisfy the troublemakers and radical left lunatics making the request.”
It is noteworthy that Trump’s post on Saturday slightly diverged from his statement on Thursday, where he referred to “pertinent” testimony.
On Saturday, he called for the release of “all” grand jury testimony.
This post also followed Trump’s filing of a defamation lawsuit against media mogul Rupert Murdoch and The Wall Street Journal, which is owned by Murdoch, regarding an article that alleged Trump sent a “bawdy” letter for Epstein’s 50th birthday.
Trump disputes the authenticity of the letter and is seeking a minimum of $10 billion in damages.
