Earlier that day, Lithuania announced that rescuers had retrieved the armored vehicle belonging to the missing soldiers from a military training area in the Baltic nation.
“It is with profound sadness that I received the news of the tragic loss of three U.S. soldiers,” Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda stated on the social media platform X.
“Lithuania stands in mourning alongside the American nation,” he added.
Nauseda confirmed that the search and rescue operation would persist until the fourth soldier is located.
