A passenger aircraft has met with an accident in the Aktau region of western Kazakhstan.
According to reports from Reuters, Kazakh officials have indicated that the aircraft was carrying 67 passengers along with five crew members, of which 12 individuals have survived the incident.
The aircraft was operated by Azerbaijan Airlines and was en route from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to Grozny in Russia, as reported by AFP.
Kazakhstan’s transport ministry confirmed on Wednesday, December 25, that “a plane operating the Baku-Grozny route crashed in the vicinity of Aktau.”
