India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate in the BRICS summit in Russia on October 22-23, following an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, as announced by the foreign ministry of India in a statement released on Friday.
President Putin aims to strengthen BRICS, which has recently welcomed Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, positioning it as a significant counterbalance to Western influence in global politics and trade.
Additionally, Chinese President Xi Jinping is also expected to attend the BRICS summit in Russia, as reported by state television CCTV on Friday.
