Israeli forces were reported to have tied an injured Palestinian man, known as Mujahed Azmi, to the hood of a military jeep during an arrest operation in Jenin, West Bank.
The incident, captured on video and verified by news agency Reuters, showed the jeep passing by two ambulances with Azmi secured to its hood.
In the meantime, the Israeli military issued a statement admitting that soldiers had breached military regulations by transporting “the suspect while tied on top of a vehicle”. They clarified that the suspect sustained injuries during a gunfire exchange and was subsequently apprehended. Following the arrest, he was handed over to medical personnel for treatment.
Nonetheless, the military emphasized that the behavior exhibited by the soldiers in the video does not reflect their principles, and assured that the incident will be thoroughly investigated and addressed accordingly.
According to Azmi’s family, Mujahed was wounded during the arrest operation. When they requested an ambulance, the army allegedly opted to fasten him to the jeep’s hood and drive off instead.
