The Japan Meteorological Agency has reported a magnitude 5.9 earthquake that struck Ishikawa Prefecture, with authorities confirming that there is no risk of a tsunami, as reported by NHK.
The earthquake took place around 6:31 am on Monday, with its epicenter estimated to be 10 kilometers deep.
Wajima and Suzu cities in Ishikawa Prefecture felt tremors at an intensity of upper 5 on Japan’s seismic scale. In addition, Noto town experienced tremors at an intensity lower than 5, while Nanao city and Anamizu town, as well as some areas in Niigata Prefecture, registered an intensity of 4.
After the earthquake, East Japan Railway temporarily halted Hokuriku Shinkansen and Joetsu Shinkansen bullet train services due to a power outage. Service resumed at 6:50 am, according to NHK.
