Israeli officials disregarded the ruling made by the International Court of Justice on Friday, which ordered Israel to halt its military operation in Rafah, a city in southern Gaza.
They vowed to persist in their fight to rescue their hostages and defeat Hamas.
The World Court’s ruling on Friday is the most recent development in a series of actions taken in recent weeks that have further isolated Israel on the international stage due to its conduct during the Gaza conflict. Local health authorities report that the war has resulted in the deaths of over 35,000 Palestinians.
The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed the accusations made by South Africa, claiming that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza, as “false, outrageous, and morally repugnant.”
In a statement, the office asserted that Israel is acting within its rights to defend its territory and citizens, while adhering to its moral principles and international law.
Furthermore, it emphasized that operations in Rafah would not be carried out in a manner that would endanger the lives of the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza or lead to their complete or partial destruction.
