Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of convincing Egypt to reopen the Rafah border crossing with Gaza in order to ensure the uninterrupted flow of international humanitarian assistance.
Israel Katz stated that the responsibility for preventing a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip lies with Egypt, referring to them as “our Egyptian friends.”
He dismissed foreign critics who wrongly attribute the humanitarian situation in the strip to Israel.
Katz further asserted that Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist group, will not be allowed to gain control over the Rafah crossing, as it is a crucial security requirement that Israel will not negotiate on.
