US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a remarkable appearance with a group from Ukraine at a locale in Kyiv, where he offered a musical demonstration of backing for the nation’s ongoing battle against Russia, as per The Washington Post.
With a guitar in hand, Blinken, an ex-serious rock guitarist himself, collaborated with a local band at venue Barman Dictat to present Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” within a filled basement music club.
Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” is a well-received rock anthem that was dropped in 1989 right before the Berlin Wall’s collapse.
The Secretary conveyed his words of support before diving into the song, which he sang together with 19.99, a punk band from Kyiv, The Washington Post detailed.
The spontaneous concert at Barman Dictat attracted a diverse audience, which comprised locals and US diplomats. Blinken received applause after singing the chorus, “Keep on rockin’ in the free world.”
The gathering at the club marked the conclusion of a productive day for Blinken, who had met with various individuals and delivered a speech emphasizing his perspective on Ukraine’s triumph, positioning it strongly within the open world.
Even without any musical performances following the conflict between Hamas and Israel in October, Blinken’s musical endeavor effectively underscored the Biden administration’s undeviating backing for Ukraine amid increasing tensions with Russia.
Senior US diplomats, as per The Washington Post, considered the ad hoc performance a potent demonstration of unity, reiterating America’s pledge to support Ukraine in its resistance against Kremlin hostilities. (ANI).
