Hamas has confirmed that one of its commanders in the West Bank, Alaa Shreiteh, was among the casualties in a recent raid conducted by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Shreiteh, who served as the West Bank commander of the al-Qassim brigades of Hamas, had previously been imprisoned in Israel from 2002 to 2016.
The IDF engaged in a gun battle with Hamas militants in the Daryl al-Ghusun area on Saturday.
According to the IDF, the clash lasted for twelve hours in the Tulkarem region of the West Bank, resulting in the deaths of four Hamas members.
The al-Qassim brigade disclosed the identity of Alaa Shreiteh early on Sunday.
