In response to President Joe Biden’s allegations that China, Iran, and North Korea are assisting Moscow in the conflict, the United States initiated the provision of much-needed weapons and ammunition to Ukraine on Wednesday.
President Vladimir Putin’s associates, who are close to him, are ensuring that he has an adequate supply. Iran has provided him with drones, while North Korea has supplied artillery shells and ballistic missiles. In addition, President Biden signed a National Security Supplemental aid package worth USD 95.3 billion to support Ukraine and Israel, as well as to enhance the security of the United States and its allies in the Indo-Pacific region, including Taiwan. During this announcement, Biden emphasized that China is contributing components and expertise to bolster Russia’s defense production.
With this substantial support, Russia has intensified its airstrikes on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure. It has also furnished the brave Ukrainian defenders with an abundance of weapons. Now, the United States will provide Ukraine with the necessary supplies to sustain their fight,” Biden declared.
A few hours later, the United States commenced the airlifting and shipping of artillery, rocket systems, armored vehicles, and air defense munitions to Ukraine. Biden stated, “This package is not only an investment in Ukraine’s security but also in Europe’s security and our own.”
“We are dispatching equipment from our own inventories to Ukraine, and in the future, we will supplement those stockpiles with newly manufactured goods from American businesses.
The president emphasized the significance of the artillery shells produced in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas, as well as the Patriot missiles manufactured in Arizona and the Javelins manufactured in Alabama. He highlighted that these contributions not only assist Ukraine but also strengthen our own industrial base, enhance national security, and sustain employment in nearly 40 states across the United States.
Secretary of State Tony Blinken recently revealed a new supply of arms and equipment for Ukraine, valued at up to USD 1 billion. This comprehensive package includes urgently-needed capabilities such as air defense missiles, munitions for HIMARS, artillery rounds, armored vehicles, precision aerial munitions, anti-armour weapons, and small arms. These resources will aid Ukraine in defending its territory and protecting its people.
By providing support to Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression, the United States is sending a powerful message about the strength of American leadership today. Secretary Blinken emphasized that the United States will continue to collaborate with a coalition of over 50 nations that have been brought together to offer vital support to Ukraine’s forces.
The Pentagon has confirmed that this package will significantly increase the supply of munitions, weaponry, and equipment to help Ukraine defend its cities and front lines, and effectively counter ongoing Russian attacks.
The Pentagon has affirmed that Ukraine can rely on unwavering and robust leadership from the United States, along with the support of 50 allies and partners, to ensure consistent security assistance in the face of Russian aggression. This bipartisan backing from Congress underscores the commitment to provide the brave defenders of Ukraine with the necessary capabilities to combat the aggression.
President Biden has issued a warning, emphasizing that if Putin emerges victorious in Ukraine, there is a significant likelihood that Russian forces will directly target a NATO ally.
The invocation of Article five of the North Atlantic Treaty, which stipulates that an attack on one member is an attack on all, immediately comes to mind, as we are all well aware. Just as our NATO allies came to our aid following the September 11 attacks in 2001, we would be compelled to defend them if Putin were to launch an assault on a NATO ally, mirroring his current actions in Ukraine.
